FORMER SPENCERPORT WRESTLER JUSTIN MELIA
DIES AFTER MOTORCYCLE CRASH
Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Staff reports • July 30, 2010

Justin Melia, who died today from injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash in Gates yesterday, was a 2008 graduate of Spencerport High who had been a standout wrestler, his former coach confirmed.

A member of Spencerport’s powerhouse varsity wrestling team for three years, Melia advanced to the high school state championships twice. He finished in sixth-place his senior year, when he was also named to the All-Greater Rochester team.

“A lovable kid who was a great representative of our Ranger wrestling program,” former Spencerport wrestling coach Bill Jacoutot said of Melia. “His loss is a devastating blow to our community.”
